ASSASSIN'S CREED : BROTHERHOOD
Ubisoft is back in the game, bringing for all those who felt that they just didn't have enough of Ezio Auditore, Assassin's Creed : Brotherhood.
PLOT:
Assassin's Creed : Brotherhood shows Desmond and his allies escape to a hideout, which turns out to be (the now ruined) Ezio's ancestral mansion in Italy. They set up base in the basement, and Desmond continues experiencing Ezio's memories via the Animus 2.0, aiming to find their own Apple of Eden which Ezio supposedly hid somewhere secret.
Returning to Ezio, the game picks up exactly from where Assassin's Creed II ended. Ezio returns home, only to be attacked by the Borgia (whom he spared in Assassin's Creed II). They kill his uncle Mario and claim the Apple while Ezio is forced to flee to Rome. What follows is years of Ezio's struggles against the Borgia and ultimately, the Templars. In the process, he even restores Rome to its former glory. In the end, Cesare is arrested by the Papal Army and Ezio regains the Apple. He breaks out of prison and lays siege to Viana, and when confronted by Ezio, he insists he cannot be killed by a mortal. Ezio thus pushes him off from a height, leaving him 'in the hands of fate.' He then hides the Apple underneath the Santa Maria, Aracoeli.
With the Apple's whereabouts available to them, Desmond and Co. make a run for Santa Maria. In the secret tunnels underneath it, they are confronted by a hologram of one called Juno, who rants on and on about the humans. Time slows down and Juno takes control of Desmond's body, making him stab Lucy, who later turns out to be a double-agent. Desmond falls down and slips into a coma.
GAMEPLAY:
In terms of gameplay, Assassin's Creed : Brotherhood retains the core content from Assassin's Creed II, adding a few major upgrades. The player can -
i) recruit new Assassins and call them for backup in a fight.
ii) a vast tunnel network allows players to fast-travel across Rome.
iii) the recruited Assassins can be sent on missions to other cities, which will make them gain experience and will allow you to "upgrade" them.
iv) enemies are aggressive and attack simultaneously.
v) explore Rome as it is- visit the Colosseum or the harbor of Naples, it's up to you!
Personally, I feel that this game requires knowledge of prior games in the series to fully understand what's going on. Though the game is great, it is a bit too short for the price. Still, the storyline and the recreation of Rome make up for it. Subject 16's puzzles are a bonus.
I'd give it a 3.8 out of 5.
